Patent Attorney Soonwoong Kim Receives Commissioner’s Commendation at the 9th IP Service Industry Awards!

Soon woong, Kim, Managing Partner of Jungjin International Patent & Law Firm and Director of the Intellectual Property Strategy Institute, was honored with the Commissioner’s Commendation from the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) at the 2022 IP Service Industry Awards, hosted by the Korea Intellectual Property Service Association.

Now in its 9th year, the IP Service Industry Awards recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of the IP service industry, setting a model of excellence and leadership in the field.

Since 2000, Mr. Kim has provided legal representation in IP matters for over two decades. He has also served as Director of Technology Transfer at Seoul National University R&DB Foundation, as well as an advisor for government-led bio initiatives under the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning. Recognized as one of Korea’s leading patent attorneys in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors, Mr. Kim received the commendation for his significant role in advancing the domestic technology transfer ecosystem through his 20+ years of contribution, including his work as a member of the IP Commercialization Committee.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Kim stated, “This year marks my 22nd year in the IP service industry. I have witnessed the remarkable quantitative and qualitative growth of intellectual property in Korea, and I have grown alongside the dynamic development of the IP service sector. Going forward, I will strive to ensure that IP services go beyond a passive support role and become proactive drivers of innovation.”
