The present invention relates to an apparatus for detecting radioactive foodstuffs using a gas electron multiplier (GEM). More specifically, the present invention relates to an apparatus for detecting radioactive foodstuffs using a gas electron multiplier, the apparatus comprising: a GEM detector that includes a photoelectric conversion unit for converting input radiation into photoelectrons or Compton electrons, a gas electron multiplying unit for receiving and multiplying the photoelectrons or the Compton electrons converted by the photoelectric conversion unit, and an output unit for receiving an electrical signal corresponding to the location where electron cloud multiplied by the gas electron multiplying unit has reached an anode, determining the size of the electron cloud, and outputting the same; a transporting unit for moving a foodstuff to the position where the GEM detector is installed; and an analyzing unit (readout electronics) for analyzing the radionuclide and the radiation dosage by multiplying and converting an electrical signal output from the GEM detector.
